In about 1819, Sarah King Bohannon married Jesse Battle Ragan in Covington County, Mississippi. Their daughter, Amanda Susan Ragan, was born in Mississippi on 9 Mar 1822. She was the mother of James Armstrong Stone.

Sarah King Bohannon descended from the Bohannon line of Virginia. Duncan Bohannon, born in Scotland in about 1637, is the oldest of her documented ancestors. He immigrated to the Virginia Colony before 20 Dec 1677 by way of Barbados, West Indies, and Maryland.
