Ellen Voorhees, the oldest daughter of Henry Voorhees and Margaret (Nevius) Voorhees, married Isaac Countryman, Jr. in the Ovid Township of Seneca County, New York (755). Born on about 23 Mar 1800 in Pennsylvania (186), at his marriage to Ellen Voorhees, Isaac Countryman was about 20 years old.
The 1 Jun 1830 federal census of the Ovid Township of Seneca County, New York enumerates the household of Margaret (Nevius) Voorhees, age 50–59 years (1345). A male 20–29 years old and a female 29–29 years old were likely Benjamin Runyan and his wife Anna (Voorhees) Runyan. The 15–20 year old was likely Mary Voorhees.
The 1 Jun 1840 federal census enumerates Margaret Voorhees as 70–79 years old (1346). A 40–49 year old female and a 30–39 year old female were also living in the household. The 40–49 year-old female was likely Margaret’s daughter, Ellen Voorhees. The 30–39 year old female has not been identified.
The 1850 federal census of the Lodi Township of Seneca County, New York enumerates the household of Margaret Voorhees, age 83 years and born in New Jersey (1347). Ellen Voorhees, age 52 years and born in New Jersey was living with her mother.
Margaret (Nevius) Voorhees died on 25 Jan 1852 (106; 163, Part 2, Page 480). She is buried in the McNeal Cemetery in the Ovid Township of Seneca County, New York (106).

A. Van Doren Honeyman states the given name of the first child born to Henry and Margaret Nevius as “Nelly”, very likely an alias for “Ellen” (302, Page 480).

Seneca County, New York was created from parts of Cayuga County, New York on 24 Mar 1804.
At the formation of Seneca County, New York, the townships of Hector, Junius, Ovid, Romulus, Ulysses, and Washington were included.
Ovid Township was formed on 5 Mar 1794 as part of Onondaga County, New York. Ovid Township originally included the present day townships of Covert and Lodi.
Covert Township was created in 1817 from parts of Tompkins County, New York. In 1819, Covert Township became part of Seneca County.
Lodi Township was created in 1826 from a portion of Covert Township.
