Well Known Rinard Resident Is Taken

J. G. Anderson Passes Away Friday Following a Two Weeks Illness; Service Held at Piper Sunday.

Many old friends here of J. G. Anderson of Rinard were sorry to learn of his passing on Friday morning. Mr. Anderson’s health had not been good for the past few years, but he was able to be about until the last two weeks of his life.

John G. Anderson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Anderson was born March 5, 1856 in Sweden. In the year of 1879 at the age of 23 years he came to America and landed at Paxton, Illinois; then later moved to Rankin, Illinois where he lived on a farm.

On October 6, 1884, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Soffia Louisa Johnson. Four children born to this union are Frank W., of Marathon; Jennie M. who died in infancy; Claude A. of Rinard and Alice, now Mrs. Elmer Picht of Lohrville.

In the year of 1902, he moved with his family to a farm north of Lohrville, where he lived until 2 years ago, when he moved to Rinard. There his death occurred November 25, 1938, at the age of 82 years, 8 months and 20 days.

He is survived by his wife, the above named children, a stepson, Eustace Johnson of Lohrville; two brothers, Pete of Hooperston, Illinois and Claus of Hot Springs, Arkansas; two sisters in Sweden; 21 grandchildren, one great-grandchild and a number of other relatives. Two step children, Albert and Mrs. August Johnson preceded him in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, Nov. 27, from Skaraborg Luthern Church at Piper. Rev. Hammarlof of Manson was in charge assisted by a quartette composed of Clarence and Cecil Bangston, Mrs. Mary Anderson and Mrs. Nellie Anderson with Mrs. Nettie Persons as pianist. Acting as pallbearers were Frank Reed, Edd Moore, Bert Moore, Art Cafferty, Al Jones and Claus Johnson. He was laid to rest in Skaraborg cemetery southeast of Piper.

Relatives from a distance attending the services were Carl Anderson and daughter of Waukee,  Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lester Tourtelotte and daughters, ruth and Gwenolyn of Westboro, Missouri; Mrs. Frank Wendle and Gloria and Irene Murphy of Tarkio, Missouri; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Anderson and family of Marathon; Mr. and Mrs. Lisle Anderson of Sioux Rapids; Mr. and Mrs. Bob Frotscher and Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Decker of Fort Dodge.
