Obituary notes for John Ashburn Ragan
Col. John A. Ragan, for many years a citizen of this part of the county, died suddenly at his residence 2 and one-half miles from Raymond, on Saturday morning last. Col. Ragan was man of much intelligence and culture, but was very retiring and domestic in his habits and life. When a young man, he practiced law in Louisiana, and was for some time a member of the Legislature of that State.
