Reuben Taylor Battle was the youngest of 13 children to Jesse Battleand Susannah Faucette Battle. Reuben was one of the founders andtrustees of Powelton Academy of Hancock County, Georgia. On 23 Jan1805, he married Bethia Alexander of Greene County, Georgia. Reubenwas also a Planter and a member of the Baptist Church of Powelton.There he served as Deacon and Treasurer of the Missionary Society.
Reuben's sister, Mary Battle, was the wife of Georgia Governor WilliamRabun.
