Soon after the survey of the Welsh Tract within the Pencader Hundred of Delaware and Maryland, John Welch acquired 561 acres, and later an additional 851 acres of land. Of the latter, he sold 500 acres on 17 Aug 1727 to Thomas Lewis (105, 382).
On 13 Jun 1749, Thomas Lewis made a will in New Castle County, Delaware, naming sons Evan Lewis, Alexander Lewis, James Lewis, and David Lewis, as well as a daughter Elizabeth Lewis who married Reece Thomas (381).
