Ararat Plantation (15N 11E) in the 7th Ward, 1,323 acres valued at $1,190;
Lots 1-5, Block 7 in Delta (2nd Ward) valued at $200;
Istenaka Plantation (17N 12 E) in the 3rd Ward, 1,040 valued at $940; and
House and store in Omega (5th Ward) valued at $1,200.

The 5 Jun 1900 federal census of Union Township in Marion County, Arkansas enumerates the John B. Stone household on College Street (451). John B. Stone, age 50 years was born in Louisiana in Jan 1850. John Stone married in 1891. His father was born in Tennessee, and his mother was born in Mississippi. John Stone’s wife, Virginia R. Stone, was 34 years old and born in Mississippi in Jul 1865. Her father was born in Ireland, and her mother was born in Tennessee. Children living in the household were: Virginia R. Stone, age 8 years and born in Dec 1891; and John B. Stone, age 3 years and born in Dec 1891. Both children were born in Mississippi. A boarder, Robert A. Stewert, age 28 years and born in Mississippi in Jan 1872 was also living in the household.

The 12 May 1910 federal census of Tallulah in Madison Parish, Lousiiana enumerates the J. B. Stone household on Chestnut Street (453). J. B. Stone was 60 years old, and the census records his place of birth as in Kentucky, and that of his father in Ireland and his mother in Tennessee. Vergie Stone, the wife of J. B. Stone, was 42 years of age and born in Kentucky. Her mother was born in Tennessee and her father was born in Louisiana. Virginia Stone, the daughter of J. B. and Vergie Stone, was 17 years old and born in Louisiana. John B. Stone, Jr. was 13 years old and born in Louisiana. Sallie Robb, the mother of Vergie Stone, as age 71 years, and born in Mississippi. Both parents of Sallie Robb were born in Tennessee.

The 13 May 1920 federal census of Tallulah in Madison Parish, Louisiana enumerates the household of John B. Stone, age 70 years and born in Louisiana (452). John B. Stone worked as an attorney. His father was born in Tennessee, and his mother was born in Mississippi. Virginia Stone, was 55 years old, and born in Kentucky. Sallie Robb, the mother of Virginia Stone, age 82 years and born in Kentucky was living in the household. The census recorded the fathers of both Virginia Stone and Sallie Robb as born in Ireland and the mothers of both as born in Kentucky.

Notes and Comments

The 1910 federal census of the John B. Stone houshold appears to be inaccurate with regard to birthplaces, assigning locations to incorrect members of the household. The 1910 census enumerates Virginia Stone as Vergie Stone.

Although a tombstone at the grave of John Beverly Stone in Silver Cross Cemetery at Tallulah, Madison Parish, Louisiana displays 1930 as the year John Stone died, a database record of a death certificate for John Beverly Stone records his date of death as 23 Nov 1928 at age 78 years The tombstone also displays 1848 as the date of birth of John B. Stone. If he was 78 years of age at death on 23 Nov 1928, then he was born in 1850. The 1850 federal census does not enumerate John B. Stone with the William Patrick Stone household of Madison Parish, Louisiana, implying that he was born after the census.
