Ashburn B. Ragan (1843 - 12 Nov 1861)
On 12 Nov 1861, Ashburn B. Ragan, died of malaria at the Brokenburn Plantation (401, 28 Nov 1861 journal entry). At his death, Ashburn Ragan was 18 years of age. His mother, Sarah King (Bohannon) Ragan died on 27 Mar 1855; at her death, Ashburn Ragan was about 12 years of age. At the 1860 federal census, Ashburn Ragan was living with the Stone family on the Brokenburn Plantation, likely in part to take advantage of the family’s personal teacher.
