Biography notes for Matthew Jones
On 1 Oct 1715, Mathew Jones, John Brantley, and Jonathan Allen witnessed a deed by Philip Pardoe of Upper Parish of Isle of Wight to William Amos of Surry County in consideration of 4 shillings, land in the Upper Parish, 12 acres, beginning at a marked red oak sapling near the mouth of Spring Run belonging to John Brantley the son of Philip Brantley, near a Southerly course to a marked persimmon standing in John Brantley's cornfield, then to a locust Rest standing in Thomas Wood's line, down said Wood's line tothe Sloop Gut, down gut to Lawns Creek, down Creek to mouth of ye aforesaid Brantley's Spring Creek, up run to 1st station.

A resettlement of the Estate of Matthew Jones on 7 Mar 1750 was recorded in the records of Isle of Wight County, Virginia with the following items:

To James Ridley, part of his father’s estate, 26 poinds, 75, 7 shillings;
Dr. Brown for his wife’s part of Ditto, 26 pounds, 7 schllings;
Mr. Portlock for his wife’s part, 26 pounds, 7 shillings;
Francis Jones for his wife’s part 7 pounds : 2 : 7;
audited by James Baker, Gentleman.

On 29 Jun 1736, the account of Matthew Jones current had been stated, and mentions Thomas Mills, Stewart Jones, &c.
