Maude Ellen Griffith, the wife of Frederick Glonar Countryman and mother of Fannie Lee Countryman, descends from Griffith families of Holmes County, Ohio. Benjamin Griffith, born in Pennsylvania in about 1814, is the oldest of these ancestors identified thus far. Benjamin Griffith was living in the Prairie Township of Holmes County, Ohio by 1840. His son Michael John Griffith was the father of Maude Ellen Griffith.
